Mission Statement

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a new reentry program. Maybe you want to turn a policy question into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.

At Marshall White Research & Data Services, LLC, my mission is to advance evidence-based solutions that promote equity, transparency, and accessibility within the criminal legal system. I work with organizations and communities to build the sustainable frameworks they need to transform our

Over the past 8 years, my independent research has focused primarily on the use of legal financial obligations in the misdemeanor legal system. My work has been recognized with competitive funding, including a $10,000 research grant from the prestigious Russell Sage Foundation. I have published my work in leading journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology and contributed to public policy reports examining fines, fees, and diversion programs in Alabama. I have a demonstrated expertise in translating complex findings into actionable policy recommendations for diverse audiences, including practitioners and policymakers.

My commitment to justice reform stems from a fundamental belief that our legal system should serve all people equitably, regardless of their economic circumstances. Having witnessed firsthand how financial barriers can perpetuate cycles of disadvantage within the legal system, I am passionate about conducting research that empowers organizations to implement evidence-based solutions to reduce these disparities.

In my free time, I can be found in my garden, on hikes with my two rescue dogs, or enjoying live music. As a lifelong Southerner with degrees from three Southern states, I am fully committed to creating a safe, equitable, and representative South for all.
